SenseOn Universal Sensor v7.0+
We’re excited to share a major upgrade to SenseOn deployment! A single installer, version control, and automatic updates for the Universal Sensor.
We’ve rebuilt how the Universal Sensor is deployed and managed across your estate. The previous multi-step installation has been replaced with a single, unified package that handles everything automatically; downloading directly from the SenseOn Platform for more reliable, more secure installations. You'll know the new installer is active in your environment when you see Universal Sensor versions v7.0 or above.
What’s improved:
- Simpler onboarding — new endpoints are enrolled using a secure token generated in the SenseOn Platform (no key file needed!)
- Version control — pin a specific Universal Sensor version per segment, choose from the latest or previous versions, and roll back if needed.
- Automatic updates and health checks — a lightweight background service keeps the Universal Sensor up to date and monitors its health.
What to expect during the transition:
This update is being released in phases—we'll begin with a small number of customers and gradually expand to all customers over Februrary-March 2026. Once the update reaches your environment, you'll see 3 new processes installed: 'senseon-bootstrapper', 'senseon-logger' and 'senseon-broker'. You'll also temporarily see the legacy installer alongside the new one—this is expected and the old one will be removed automatically. We've paused auto-updates as a precaution during this period and will re-enable them once the rollout is stable. Your endpoint protection isn't affected throughout.
What do I need to do?
No action is needed from you. The upgrade happens automatically. Please don’t remove either installer service manually—it’ll resolve itself.
