Installing the Universal Sensor is now a matter of copying and running a single command. The new Universal Sensor page in Settings, available to every organisation, gives you a ready-to-run command for each operating system with your installer key already included. It also shows when the key was created and last rotated, and lets you rotate it from the same page. Each segment can now run a Universal Sensor version you choose. Setting up Data Connectors is clearer too: connectors still in beta carry a Beta badge, and the Entra ID sign-in and audit log connectors explain up front that they need a Microsoft Entra ID P1 or P2 licence.

What's new

Install commands for the Universal Sensor

Settings > Universal Sensor shows a ready-to-copy install command for each supported operating system, with your installer key already embedded. Copy the command, run it on the device, and the sensor installs, with no key to paste in separately. See manual installation for step-by-step guidance. The previous installation page is still linked from it for sensors older than version 7.0.

  • Universal Sensor: see when your installer key was created, when it was last rotated and by whom, and rotate the key from the same page.
  • Device Configuration: choose which Universal Sensor version each segment runs, from the latest release or a previous one, in place of the auto-update toggle. Pinning a version lets you roll out updates at your own pace, and roll back if you need to.
  • Data Connectors: connectors that are still in beta show a Beta badge, both in the catalogue and on your existing connections.

What's improved

  • Data Connectors: the Entra ID Sign-in Logs and Entra ID Audit Logs connectors explain that they need a Microsoft Entra ID P1 or P2 licence, with a link to Microsoft's guidance.
  • Data Connectors: hints in the connection form can include links, and longer pipeline options are shown in full rather than cut short.

What do I need to do?

Check the Universal Sensor version for each segment in Device Configuration. Existing segments start with no version selected, and until you choose one, devices in that segment aren't updated automatically.

If you rotate your installer key, it replaces the old key, so update any deployment tools that use it, such as Intune or Jamf Pro, with the new install command.
